At school, we all learnt about the history of the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus. 1492 was the historical date par excellence, one of the dates that changed the world. Yet, less people know about the discovery of America before Columbus. This short ebook is about this history. It reproduces Joseph Fischer’s synthetic article, published in 1907 in The Catholic Encyclopedia. It is followed by Pius Wittman’s text, published in 1909, about Greenland, which history is closely related to American pre-Columbian one.
